Green Card Lottery

What is the Diversity Visa Program?

The USA Government has a system called the DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT VISA program or better known as the GREEN CARD LOTTERY. The State Department allocates 50,000 permanent resident Visas (Green Cards) to residents of certain eligible countries around the world. See the list of Non-Eligible Countries.

Applicants for Diversity Visas are chosen by a computer-generated random lottery drawing. Your country of birth may qualify you for the next scheduled program referred to as DV2007.

    Permanent Resident Visa

The random computer-generated lottery drawing will take place between January and May. Winners will be informed via mail, e-mail or phone between May and July. Selected applicants will receive permanent resident visas after filing a successful immigration petition. After the DV Visa was issued, you will have 6 months to travel to the US to validate and activate the green card issuing process. Immediately after entrance, you will be allowed to work in the US! As a green card holder, you will have the legal right to live, work and/or study in the United Sates! You and your family may be among those recipients. [More]

USGC Services allow applicants to submit applications throughout the year. Complete your application immediately to avoid any disappointment. Applying early entitles you to a discounted fee. USGC Services also gives you an option to complete either an online application or to download and print a paper application. Both these options require that you also submit a photograph for each family member listed on the application. We strongly discourage the use of paper applications to minimize the possibility of errors, however, our office will still process submitted paper applications received. Note that the State Department implemented new rules in Aug 2003 by which applicants can file their own electronic applications and digital photographs during the brief submission period.
